Battle Abbey is a fantastic and unique wedding venue in East Sussex, situated in the beautiful and historic town of Battle. The memories of your special day will remain with you forever and it is important to ensure that every detail is perfect with no compromises! There are few venues that can offer such magic memories, bespoke service and superb photo opportunities as Battle Abbey. It’s also probably more affordable than you think…
The Abbey offers the distinct benefit of offering a complete wedding day in one location with a truly flexible space in which to stage your ceremony, reception drinks, wedding breakfast and evening event, and with enough space to avoid the need for turning around rooms with guests in occupation. Every wedding we hold is unique, entirely bespoke for you (on average we only hold around 17 weddings a year) so don’t hold back when discussing your ideas with us! With an elegant, sacred feeling space for ceremonies and drinks served on the top terrace overlooking one of the most famous battlefields in England surrounded by over 1000 years of history, Battle Abbey really has the wow factor you’re looking for.
We can seat up to 120 guests in the fantastic wood panelled Duke’s Library for your wedding breakfast, 150 for ceremonies and accommodate up to 250 for barbeque or garden party events and evening entertainment. We don’t have many restrictions but due to the size of the venue, we recommend a minimum of 65 guests for the day. All our Canapés, Starters, Mains and Desserts are prepared on-site using fresh and, where possible, local ingredients from East Sussex.
The cost to hold a wedding reception or ceremony and reception at Battle Abbey ranges from £3,000 (out of season midweek date) to £4,500 (summer season Saturday) and will include exclusive use of the Abbot’s House site and surrounding outdoor space. Pricing for drinks and food will depend entirely on your choices. We can lay on anything from a barbeque or hog roast up to a five-course sit down formal meal. If there’s something you particularly want, just ask!
All our weddings are unique and we pride ourselves on being flexible. We probably aren’t as expensive as you might expect; with average Saturday prices at £100 ahead (with plenty of ways to bring this figure down) and nearer £75 ahead midweek why not contact us to find out how much your dream Abbey wedding might cost? - My husband and I got married at Battle Abbey on the 24th October 2019 and what an absolutely beautiful day it was; it did rain quite heavily but Battle Abbey was the perfect backdrop come rain or shine. As a child, I always imagined that I would get married in a castle when I grew up… Battle Abbey truly was the castle of my dreams. The Abbot’s Hall was the most traditional, stunning yet unique room for our ceremony. The large painting above us made everything that little bit more spectacular. The staff at Battle Abbey are incredible! Nothing was ever too much to ask and they all made the process from our initial wedding enquiry to the day of the wedding smooth and hassle-free. Our favourite meals were even added on to their already extensive list of meal choices with no problems. All of our guests commented on how delicious their three-course meal was! Battle Abbey’s grounds are just simply gorgeous. We had some truly stunning photographs taken throughout our day and will treasure them forever. I highly recommend Battle Abbey as a wedding venue! We could not have had a better day.’
